I think you understand why I say SOTAI and not SOTAI-ho. Because I am not just learning the technique (ho), I am learning the whole SOTAI.
In recent years, SOTAI has adopted the "New Center of Gravity Theory." It comes after Dai-yon Bunseki. This is the latest theory by Master Hiroshi Miura(Miura Sensei), and it goes beyond even the comfort zone. Of course, it produces results.
In the old style of traditional Sotai(Dai-ich Bunseki), the main positions were supine and prone, but recently it has become common to approach the wrist joints in a standing or sitting position.
Sotai is a system that includes the philosophy of life and views on life and death of its founder, Dr. Keizo Hashimoto. The word "ho" refers to the techniques. These are the techniques that Dr. Keizo Hashimoto used in his actual treatments.
However, the "ho" techniques are only a small part of sotai.
To master Sotai, and this is true for other things besides Sotai, you need
1. The foundation of the way of thinking (Dr. Keizo Hashimoto's philosophy),
2. The techniques, and
3. Continuous learning and practice.
Most people start with technique 2, but the reason so few people reach the point of mastery is because they skip over 1 (the foundation of the way of thinking).
Let me give you an example from the words of a wise man.
A revelation has come to you. If you visit XX temple on XX day XX time of XX year and make an offering, you will become rich.
This is a method, or a technique. In other words, sotai-ho.
All you need to know is how to get to XX temple. That is sotai. If you don't know this, you won't be able to reach XX temple.
